It is with great pleasure I am able to announce the founding of a new and exciting Association within Kent Bowls, the Association is to be called the Friends of Kent Bowls. The Association has been set up with consultation and the approval of the Unified Kent County Bowling Association. The new Association will in no way affect the present Patrons Association or the Benevolent Fund, both of which are greatly appreciated for all the work they do. A steering committee consisting of Arthur Hockley (Acting Chairman), Rick Travers (Acting Secretary), Gwladys Wellings (Acting Treasurer), plus committee members Jean Johnson and Peter Johnson have been working on the set up and launch of the new Association. This committee was kept within Division Four for ease of travelling to meetings in the first instance, but at the first Annual General Meeting of the Association an election of Officers and committee will take place. The AGM will take place immediately following the Unified AGM of the Kent County Bowling Association in November .

Our Aim
Monetary aid from Bowls England for those taking part in National Championships and Competitions both at Senior and Junior level is far from adequate, this is presently being subsidised to a degree from County funds. This has led to a feeling that although our County Association is not suffering from any financial problem now, we can foresee problems that may arise in the future, it would be better to try and ensure this doesn't happen and that we have sufficient funds to ensure bowlers both Senior and Junior are able to participate on our behalf in representing our County without the constraints of financial hardship. We aim to have available sufficient funds to ensure County events and competitions can be flagship events, attracting interest from both media and potential new bowlers. We aim to have available funds to benefit and assist events suggested or recommended by members to encourage recruitment and promotion of our sport.
